Position Summary
The Lead HVAC Installer plays a critical role in delivering high-quality installations, maintaining customer satisfaction, and ensuring the success of the installation team and company operations. This role leads installation crews, ensures all work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable codes and company standards, and delivers exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is a skilled HVAC professional with strong leadership abilities, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and support HVAC installation teams on residential job sites.
- Install heating, cooling, ventilation, and indoor air quality (IAQ) equipment, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, and related components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, manufacturer instructions, and technical drawings.
- Ensure all installations comply with local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate project materials, equipment, and labor resources to ensure efficient job completion.
- Train, mentor, and develop apprentice and junior installers.
- Troubleshoot installation challenges and implement effective solutions in the field.
- Perform system startup, testing, commissioning, and verification of proper system operation.
- Communicate project progress, customer concerns, and job-site issues to management in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate job documentation, installation reports, and completion records.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service while representing the company.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a safe and organized manner.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- 3–7 years of residential HVAC installation experience.
- EPA Section 608 Certification.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, controls, refrigeration principles, and electrical components.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing installation crews and project timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with residential HVAC replacement projects.
- Knowledge of local building codes, permitting requirements, and inspection processes.
- Additional HVAC certifications or manufacturer-specific training.
- Experience with high-efficiency systems, smart thermostats, and indoor air quality products.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, confined spaces, rooftops, and on ladders.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment.
Work Environment
- Residential customer homes and construction sites.
- Exposure to dust, noise, weather conditions, and mechanical equipment.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required based on project demands.
