Conditions of Employment
Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. Essential Functions
- Manages the daily operations of the non-instructional activities in the nursing skills lab, including scheduling, setup, and cleanup of lab sessions.
- Manages all aspects of inventory management of nursing skills lab, including the ordering, receiving, and stocking of supplies and equipment to ensure timely availability and efficient operations.
- Ensures a safe, organized, and well-stocked lab by conducting regular maintenance checks on equipment, properly disposing of and storing hazardous materials, and maintaining accurate records of lab usage, equipment upkeep, and inventory.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to coordinate lab activities and simulations and ensuring alignment with Nursing curriculum objectives.
- Supports faculty and students in the development and implementation of new lab activities, simulations, and teaching materials.
- Develops and implements lab policies to ensure compliance with safety and educational standards.
- Proposes and implements improvements to lab operations and student learning experiences.
- Assists in the orientation and training of new lab users to include faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Proposes budget allocation for lab supplies and equipment.
- Evaluates emerging trends in simulation technology and nursing practice standards.
- Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
- Associate’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution in Nursing.
- Unencumbered active Florida RN License.
- Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience.
- One (1) year of experience in a nursing skills lab and/or teaching nursing students.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
- Knowledge of nursing practices, simulation-based education, and healthcare technology and ability to integrate them into lab activities.
- Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and compliance requirements, accreditation standards, and International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) simulation standards.
- Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot healthcare simulation equipment, software, and other lab technologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the effective use of laboratory technology and equipment.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent MS Office Skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to exhibit a professional courteous demeanor and interact effectively with students, faculty, and supervisors.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Works in a classroom/laboratory setting.
- Must be able to lift, move, carry, and arrange equipment and mannequins up to 30 pounds with assistance.
- May be required to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel between campuses and local destinations when needed.
