What You’ll Teach
This is a hands-on, applied teaching role focused on real construction practice. Courses may include:
- Construction Estimating
- Construction Planning & Scheduling
- MEP Systems for Construction Professionals
- Construction Accounting & Finance
- Construction Plan Reading & Documentation
- Building Information Modeling (BIM)
- Virtual Design & Construction (VDC)
- Industry-standard software and tools (Revit, Navisworks, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and others)
Instruction is project-based and aligned with real industry workflows.
What You’ll Do
Faculty responsibilities include:
- Teaching construction courses using applied, project-based learning
- Maintaining curriculum aligned with industry standards and ACCE accreditation
- Developing syllabi, assignments, and hands-on learning activities
- Supporting student success through advising, mentoring, and office hours
- Collaborating with local construction firms to align curriculum with workforce needs
- Supporting internships, apprenticeships, and industry partnerships
- Participating in community projects, service learning, and workforce initiatives
- Contributing to grants, innovation initiatives, and program development
- Engaging with high schools, industry partners, and community stakeholders
- Participating in campus activities, committees, and graduation ceremonies
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following pathways:
Option 1
- Master’s degree in Construction Management, Building Construction, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural), or Architecture
- Minimum of 2 years of professional construction experience
Option 2
- Master’s degree in Business, Business Administration, or Project Management
- AND Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum of 6 years of construction industry experience
- Professional certification or license (PE, CGC, RA, CPBD, CPC, DBIA, PMP, or equivalent)
Option 3
- Ph.D. in Construction or related discipline
- Prior college-level teaching experience
Preferred Industry Experience
We are especially interested in candidates with hands-on experience in:
- Project Management or Construction Supervision (PM, Superintendent roles)
- Estimating, scheduling, and project controls
- MEP coordination and systems integration
- BIM/VDC environments and digital construction workflows
- Construction accounting, cost control, and finance
- Use of tools such as Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and PlanGrid
- Field leadership roles in commercial or civil construction
Experience with emerging construction technologies (drones, laser scanning, AR/VR tools such as HoloLens) is highly valued.
