What are the responsibilities and job description for the ATMS Coordinator position at Seminole County/Board of County Commissioners?
Coordination of work involving design, implementation, monitoring signal system software, signal timings, traffic adaptive systems, modification of traffic signals, traffic signal systems, and communication networks or any other duties related to the signal timing and preventative maintenance area. Maintain and provide current timing sheet database for customers as requested. Monitor and generate monthly reports to show growth and congestion trends using Bluetooth travel time system. Attend any training opportunities in order to maintain adequate TARP points for IMSA certifications for all signal certifications.
**Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

Monitors the County's 900 MHz radio system, signal system software (ATMS.now), travel time maps, video cameras and the 911 Fire Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) at all times for calls that can be handled remotely.
Develops, implements and project manages signal and signal system timings from the TMC or field as needed. Review and provide feedback to supervisor for signal operating plans before installation.
Check communication equipment relating to traffic control equipment and report any issues to the appropriate personnel. Assists with and inspects new installations by contractors as needed.
Maintains a current timing sheet database.
Organize timing software files used to maintain and make timing adjustments as well as filter out old unused data.
Responds to citizens, engineering consultants and legal officials concerns relating to traffic signals or timings.
Carries an on-call pager on a rotational basis.

High school diploma/GED and five (5) years' experience in the field of electronics.
A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
Knowledge of the principles and theory of electronics.
Understanding of the standard tools, materials, methods and practices of the electronic trade.
Familiarity of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the electronic and electrical trade.
Knowledge of overhead regulatory and advisory signs and the tools and apparatus necessary for their installation and maintenance.
A solid understanding of the engineering principles of traffic signal timings and coordination.
Knowledge of NEC, NEMA and IMSA codes, requirements and functions.
Knowledge of the MUTCD and Florida Department of Transportation Standard specifications for road and bridge construction pertaining to traffic signals and traffic signal control devices and associated equipment.
Ability to use standard electronic test equipment.
Ability to learn techniques of traffic signal installation, maintenance and repair. Ability to read and interpret plans, sketches, and blueprints for use in the planning and installation of traffic signals.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to oversee, plan, and implement major programs and services for the organization.
Ability to regularly make decisions that could lead to major community or organizational consequences if failure to make the appropriate decision occurs.
Ability to perform work that encompasses advanced technical, scientific, legal, or mathematical concepts
Must possess IMSA Work Zone Safety Certificate, IMSA Level I Signalization Certificate, and IMSA Level II Signalization Certificate. IMSA Level III signalization certificate desirable.
Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems, computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.
Knowledge needed to operate more complex and technical computer applications, such as Tru-Traffic, ATMS.now and Synchro.
Ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools, medium equipment and machinery, such as vehicles or commercial mowers, and heavy or complex machinery, such as Lift trucks, construction equipment, or Bucket trucks.
Must possess the ability to create and guide implementation of capital improvement plans or programs, create plans for and guide implementation of major construction projects, and create plans for and guide implementation of new technology systems.
