Position Summary

The Maintenance Manager oversees on-going projects and daily activities to ensure their timely and efficient completion. This person assists in directing daily activities of all assigned maintenance personnel and assists the Plant Engineer with improving manufacturing efficiencies for Semifreddi’s. This position provides support to the Engineer by performing the following duties personally and through subordinate staff. Hands-on support is required, may require long hours and a variable work schedule at times, as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position will be expected to complete the basic tasks of a maintenance technician, plus the essential functions including, but not limited to, the following:

• Ensure repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools and equipment for 24/7 production operations
• Perform maintenance and repairs on motors, hydraulic and pneumatic components, conveyor systems, and production machines as needed.
• Primary contact for work requests, determine work priorities, generate work orders.
• Administer CMMS
• Order and maintain parts and material inventory.
• Drive continuous improvement of the Preventative Maintenance program.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized maintenance shop.
• Oversee the following programs (but not limited to) tool control, document control, authorized vendors, lock-out-tag-out (LOTO).
• Oversee maintenance shop and keep organized
• Support bakery Food Safety (i.e. BRCGS & FDA) and Workplace Safety programs.
• Support ongoing training and development initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities –

• Lead and develop 3-4 mechanics across a 24-7 work schedule
• Primary point of contact during off-hours and be on-call in case of emergency.
• Planning, assigning, and directing work
• Follows and creates work processes and ensure documentation compliance with Semifreddi’s programs.
• Set mechanics work schedule, authorize PTO requests, audit bi-weekly time cards
• Direct report development - provides constructive feedback, Prepare and present employee performance reviews, rewards and disciplines employees
• Oversee maintenance department hiring (includes interviews)
• Lead trainer for new hires
• Address personnel complaints and work with human resources to resolve issues.
• Supervise outside contractors to perform work to our standards

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

• Walking, Standing, Bending, Twisting, Reaching above shoulder: 6 hours per shift.
• Using hands to Grasp, Push, Pull: 4-6 hours per shift.
• Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift 50 pounds.
• The bakery production floor can be a loud, fast paced environment.
• Flour (Wheat) dust will be present in the air.
• Bakery Temperatures may increase and decrease with the weather and oven usage.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• 3 years of maintenance related experience in a manufacturing environment including electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems repair.
• Minimum 1-3 years of leadership experience supervising a team of 3-5 employees.
• English proficiency: ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical manuals, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors and customers.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to stay organized and effectively communicate progress when juggling competing priorities.
• Maintains a professional attitude and works with a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous work experience in a food manufacturing plant and/or bakery is a plus.
• English proficiency oral and written skills. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

• This is a Salary Exempt position with an annual pay range of $70,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience.
