Position Summary
The Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations and personnel of the distribution department, ensuring the trouble-free distribution of our products to our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position will be expected to complete the basic tasks of a Delivery Driver, plus the essential Managerial functions including, but not limited to, the following:
- Daily Department Operations - Ensure all deliveries are loaded safe and efficiently, communicate errors with other departments and communicate issues to leadership.
- Personnel Management – Leading a team of 3-5 supervisors and 20 drivers to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient daily operation of the department.
- Delivery Route and Schedule Management.
- Merchandising and Marketing strategy and implementation at our wholesale accounts to increase awareness and sales of Semifreddi’s products.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with wholesale accounts by visiting store locations and providing them with information designed to educate them about Semifreddi’s products and our business philosophy.
- Contribute to the acquisition of new customers by participating in the Potential New Account process, coordinating efforts with leadership.
- Ensure proper delivery standards are being followed, maintain control of inventory and FIFO process.
- Maintaining the Company fleet - ensure all State and regulatory compliance requirements (CA#, DOT, Etc.) are met, ensure all vehicles are serviced in accordance with vehicle specifications.
- Other tasks and related duties as assigned by Leadership.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- This position requires starting work between 2am-3am regularly.
- Walking, Standing, Bending, Twisting, Reaching above shoulder: 2 hours per shift.
- Sitting - Driving or working at a Computer: 4 hours per shift.
- Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift 50 pounds.
- The production floor and distribution dock can be a loud, fast paced environment.
- Flour (Wheat) dust will be present in the air.
- Bakery Temperatures may increase and decrease with the weather and oven usage.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Must have a valid California’s driver license and clean driving record.
- 3 Years of Supervisory or Management experience in a Direct Store Delivery or Logistics setting, or equivalent education.
- Minimum 1 years of experience leading a team of 20 or more employees.
- Ability to use computer programs such Microsoft 365 Suite. Experience with software such as Samsara and Samsung Knox is a plus.
- Ability to effectively lead meetings, present information, and professionally respond to questions from leadership, vendors and customers.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, analyze and interpret information, identify and problems, and make decisions.
- Maintains a professional attitude and works with a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous work experience in a food manufacturing plant and/or bakery is a plus.
- Must be fluent in the English language. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
- Must be available to work Weekends and Holidays as part of your standard schedule.
Compensation and Benefits
- This is a Manager level full-time salary exempt position.
- The starting pay is $70,000-$80,000 annually.
