Marketing & Communications Director
Greene Resources has partnered with Semiconductor Research Corporation to find a Marketing & Communications Director to join a growing and dynamic team! The Marketing & Communications Director is a strategic leader responsible for shaping and advancing the visibility, reputation, and narrative of SRC and SMART USA. This role designs and executes an integrated communications strategy that supports business goals, enhances stakeholder engagement, and drives member value. The Director oversees brand architecture, executive communications, stakeholder relationship management, crisis communication protocols, and media strategy while ensuring messaging consistency across platforms. Serving as the primary communications strategist, this role advises executive leadership, partners cross-functionally, and demonstrates communications impact through measurable ROI and influence.
Job Description:
- Develop, implement, and lead a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Partner with management and department leaders to support organizational priorities, thought leadership, storytelling, stakeholder influence, and communications governance.
- Develop and lead a message architecture that reinforces SMART USA’s mission and identity, brand promise, and member value proposition.
- Direct and manage internal and external multi-channel content, stakeholder mapping, influence strategy, and partner communications (e.g., SIA, industry, academia, manufacturing)
- Oversee brand identity to ensure uniformity in voice, visual elements, and messaging throughout all communications.
- Responsible for internal and outsourced digital assets such as graphics, slide decks, one-pagers, event materials, and social media visuals.
- Provide collaborative support to company events, conferences, and community outreach activities, including capturing and memorializing events (i.e., photography or video content).
- Establish, track, and analyze key performance metrics across platforms to measure impact, make informed decisions, and provide data to management.
- Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and external partners (designers, media contacts, printers, etc.).
- Establish and ensure adherence to communication standards, frameworks, compliance (i.e., NIST), accessibility requirements, and brand/logo guidelines.
- Serves as the strategic liaison between SMART USA and partner organizations (i.e., SIA).
- Maintain internal communication tools and channels to support employee engagement and organizational clarity.
Position Requirements:
- Skilled at strategic visioning, planning, and execution
- Able to create and translate complex technical concepts into compelling narrative formats.
- Skilled in translating organizational impact into measurable engagement, visibility, and brand authority.
- Strong project management skills, prioritizing and managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Excellent cross-functional and executive engagement and communications.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple formats.
- Proficiency in content creation, digital marketing, and social media management.
- Knowledgeable with design and marketing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CMS platforms, email marketing tools).
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and brand consistency.
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- 8 years of progressive experience in marketing or communications, including hands-on content creation and campaign management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage strategy, execution with direct/indirect reports.
- Experience influencing executive leaders and managing communications in sensitive periods (growth, national branding, public-sector initiatives, change management).
- Must have knowledge of federal government funding.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience overseeing R&D programs, including associated policies, decision-making processes, and communications.
- Experience working in a small/ lean team environment or a start-up.
- Experience in a non-profit, research, or semiconductor-related field.
Job Details:
- Location: Durham, NC (Hybrid)
- Pay: $110,000 to $135,000/year
- Type: Full-time; Direct Hire
- Schedule: Monday - Friday
