Responsibilities
- Lead supplier qualification, audits, and ongoing assessments to ensure adherence to quality standards such as AS9100, ISO 13485, IATF 16949:2016, and ISO 9001.
- Develop and implement Supplier Quality Plans (SQPs), including APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) processes, PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and root cause analysis for defect resolution.
- Collaborate with vendors to establish robust quality control procedures, monitor supplier performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct statistical data analysis using tools like Minitab to identify trends, analyze quality control data, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Perform risk assessments related to supply chain processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as FDA regulations and legal requirements in manufacturing.
- Support process engineering efforts by integrating lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and defect reduction strategies.
- Manage non-conformance issues by leading root cause investigations, implementing corrective actions, and verifying effectiveness through follow-up audits.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of quality records, audit reports, and supplier evaluations in accordance with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
Experience
- Proven experience in supplier quality assurance within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems such as AS9100, ISO 13485 (medical devices), IATF 16949:2016 (automotive), and ISO 9001 standards.
- Demonstrated expertise in APQP, PPAP processes, vendor management practices, and quality control statistical data analysis tools like Minitab.
- Hands-on experience with process engineering concepts including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma practices, GD&T application, and defect root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards relevant to manufacturing environments such as FDA regulations or legal standards governing production processes.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams on quality improvement projects utilizing project management methodologies.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role is highly desirable.
