Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to develop personalized care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Operate and utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to document patient information efficiently and securely.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as ICU, emergency medicine, long-term care, hospice & palliative medicine, or geriatrics based on your experience.
- Perform advanced procedures including IV insertion, suturing, catheterization (urinary and vascular), tube feeding management, and sterile techniques to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning, case management, and follow-up care tailored to individual needs.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards while ensuring patient safety through aseptic techniques and accurate medical documentation.
Experience
- Proven nursing experience in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for comprehensive medical records management.
- Strong background in emergency medicine, trauma medicine, or hospital-based acute care settings with familiarity in trauma protocols and acute pain management.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP), neonatal ventilator management, or neonatal intensive care unit (PICU).
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, laboratory procedures, specimen collection/processing, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Skilled in performing complex procedures such as spinal taps, gastrostomy feedings, ostomy care, and ventilator management.
- Additional experience in home & community care environments like hospice & palliative care or assisted living facilities is advantageous.
