What are the responsibilities and job description for the Appointment Scheduler position at Selma Medical Associates, Inc.?
DESCRIPTION: Responsible for scheduling various types of patient appointments for Family Practice, Internal Medicine and Cardiology, and to notify those patients of their appointments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Schedule various appointments (follow-ups, immediate illness).
· Completes any incoming tasks that are in the EMR.
· Update patient demographics in the EPM/EMR.
· Assist in rescheduling appointments as needed.
· Schedule new patients and send new patient paperwork packet as needed (Internal medicine).
· Assist physician in communicating their scheduled changes. Reschedule patients as needed.
· Manage NextMD appointment requests and address messages.
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Must have working knowledge of medical terminology. Must be familiar with diagnostic studies and be able to inform patient of correct procedure.
· Oral and written communication skills. Skilled in effectively communicating with public.
· Ability to understand that unauthorized discussion and/or disclosure of protected health information (PHI) in any form, either on or off the premises of Selma Medical Associates, Inc. is strictly forbidden.
· Understanding that Privacy and Security of medical records is covered by the Privacy Act of 1974 and Federal Regulation 45 CFR, Parts 160, 162 and 164 Standards for Privacy & Security of Individually Identifiable Health Information.
SUPERVISION: Reports to the Team Leader and/or the Director of Clinical Operations and/or Manager of Clinical Operations and Care Coordination. Does not exercise supervision of other staff members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires frequent walking and standing. Occasional lifting of supplies up to 35 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires performing multiple tasks at the same time. Requires working with the public. Requires both telephone and computer skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment in close proximity to other staff. Involves contact with patients, staff, physicians, and the public. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls, inquiries, and volume of paperwork.
