Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements, and effective cost control across multiple construction projects. This role manages the accounting team, supports project teams with financial insights, and plays a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and variance analysis
- Own WIP and job costing, including reviewing project margins and financial performance
- Construction revenue recognition
- Consolidate monthly financials for multi entity structure
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and support schedules
- Host monthly operational finance meetings with stakeholders
- Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulations
- Support internal and external audits; coordinate with auditors and tax advisors
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
Accounts Payable Oversight
- Supervise AP functions, including approval workflow and credit card processing
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead corporate accounting and accounts payable team
- Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff
- Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and automation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Project Management, and Executive Leadership
- Support ERP/accounting system implementation or optimization
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role
- Construction or utility construction industry experience strongly preferred; including WIP accounting, job costing, and construction financial reporting
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and WIP
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- Solid understanding of GAAP and financial controls

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
