Summary:

Under the Scheduling Manager, the Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for supporting the Operations Team. Assists in purchasing materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Track purchases, monitor vendor quality and issues, and maintain a current database of vendor information. Prepare POs and verify arrival of goods. Works of projects in a limited capacity and in support roles.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Safety

  • Champions and promotes a strong safety culture.
  • Purchase safety related supplies and equipment, as required


Production:

  • Manage supplier relationship for local services and supplies
  • Determine material requirements
  • Create purchase orders (for entire local site)
  • Participate in inventory counts and manage raw material inventory
  • Follow standard procedures & processes for re-order points (ROP) and safety stocks
  • Communicate with strategic purchasing group to optimize order quantity (OOQ
  • Ensure supplier contractual obligations are met
  • Ensure supplier mix is followed
  • Create items in the system (Syteline & SAP)
  • SMOB management
  • Coordinate, manage and work along with the planning/scheduling/CSR/logistics to ensure that we delivery OTIF, efficiently, with minimum scrap


Quality

  • Identify supplier issues and highlight major supply interruptions and communicate with local operations and strategic purchasing group.
  • Ensure that BRC, FDA, CTPAT, ISO standards, etc. are followed.


Miscellaneous

  • Backup for planning department
  • Ensure that BRC, FDA, CTPAT, ISO standards, etc. are followed


Other duties and special team assignments, as required


Qualification Requirements:


Education and/or Experience:


  • Minimum of high school education, college level education an asset
  • Experience with Syteline or SAP an asset
  • Experience in manufacturing or packaging preferred


Skills:


  • Ability to work as part of a team, as a member and a leader
  • Able to organize work/people/processes to meet customer requirements on an urgent basis if needed.
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate information orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail with good organization skills to prioritize workload and achieve daily objectives.
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills

Safety Hazards:


  • Sitting, using computers, typing and looking at monitors for extended periods of time may pose ergonomic issues.
  • Potential debris from operations require that all employees wear ANSI certified Z-87 safety glasses with side-shield protection when in the manufacturing sections of the plant.
  • Large heavy parts are located throughout this location with the potential for compression and/or penetration of feet. All employees must wear ASTM certified protective steel toe footwear.
  • Loud noises from operations require hearing protection to be made available for employees but are not required in the factory areas of the facility.
  • Working in close proximity to active tow motors lanes requires extra attention and awareness.
