About the Position
The candidate will be an integral part of Selig’s Global Procurement organization utilizing a corporate shared service structure (no direct factory ties) responsible for direct packaging raw materials as well as large indirect spend categories. This position will develop global category strategies in cooperation with an internal, cross functional, team and will also be responsible for successfully executing those strategies. The candidate will provide leadership in supplier segmentation, supplier scorecards, along with developing and executing comprehensive supplier strategies. They will contribute in supplier development and validate the ensuing value creation. The candidate will be expected to support the annual raw material/supplier risk mitigation process with the goal of on-going risk reduction within individual raw materials and the supply community. Supplier contract management (negotiating, developing, and managing) is an important part of Selig’s risk mitigation process. Total cost of ownership (TCO) is expected to improve year over year. Implementing cash management strategies (Vendor Managed Inventory and payment terms) will also be an ongoing expectation as will the leading and/or facilitating of Selig’s sustainability process.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop global category strategies in alignment with internal stakeholders to drive value across the organization and execute the agreed-upon strategies.
- Participate in the ongoing supplier risk mitigation process, including annual supplier ratings and approval of new raw material projects to reduce risk.
- Execute development plans for key suppliers to improve their overall risk profiles.
- Identify and manage opportunities to reduce spend across large indirect categories.
- Drive cost savings using strategies such as volume leverage, supplier consolidation, and price and contract negotiations.
- Build and maintain collaborative, long-term supplier partnerships to improve total cost of ownership and reduce risk, including visibility into the full supply stream (tertiary suppliers).
- Support the creation, analysis, and reporting of raw material budgets, forecasts, reforecasts, and PPV reports.
- Monitor key raw material markets and understand the underlying drivers impacting pricing and availability.
- Evaluate supplier performance using established metrics, including OTIF, quality, pricing, innovation, cost savings, and risk profiles.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with legal, ethical, and Selig Procurement policy standards.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a related field, or 5 years of relevant experience.
- Master’s degree (MBA or postgraduate) preferred.
- Professional certifications (CIPS, ISM) preferred.
- Experience working within a shared services or centralized sourcing environment.
- Demonstrated supplier relationship management experience.
- Knowledge of risk management, including contract development/management and hedging strategies.
- Proven track record of cost optimization and negotiation success.
- Global or regional sourcing experience
