Compassionate & Discreet Part-Time Companion/Carer for 92-Year-Old WomanLocation: Vero Beach, Florida (with seasonal travel to North Carolina)Live in or Live outThe OpportunityWe are a loving family seeking a warm, energetic, and highly tactful companion/carer for our 92-year-old grandmother. She is mentally engaged and full of life, but is beginning to require some physical assistance to maintain her independence and quality of life. Our grandmother is a proud and private individual, so the ideal candidate will be exceptionally discreet and able to provide support in a way that feels more like a helpful friend or companion than a formal carer.This is a unique role with a trial period, offering the potential to grow into a full-time, long-term position for the right person.About the Role: A Gentle Introduction (Initial 6-Month Trial)We are looking for someone to start on a part-time basis to allow for a comfortable and gradual adjustment period. The initial focus will be on building a trusting relationship with our grandmother and providing support during the weekends and some evenings.Initial Part-Time Responsibilities (through May):Cooking and Grocery Shopping: Keeping the fridge stocked. Preparing meals for her to eat solo or when hosting friends. She loves her food but has a sensitive stomach, so someone who is an enthusiastic but health-conscious cook is ideal.Tactful companionship: Spending quality time with her, engaging in conversation, joining her for meals (including occasional dinners out), and being a positive, cheerful presence when required. Knowing how to do this while unobtrusive, when to leave the house and give her her space would be essential.Household Support: Light housekeeping to maintain a clean and pleasant living environment is required. There will be lots of downtime while she naps, so being productive around the home would be essential.Personal Care: Assisting with daily living activities as needed, which includes changing incontinence products with sensitivity and respect for her dignity.Pet Care: Providing care for her sweet, beloved dog, including occasional walks during the week.Overnight Presence: Being available to spend occasional Saturday and Sunday nights to ensure her safety and comfort.Initial Schedule:Full days on Saturday and Sunday, including evenings until approximately 9 p.m.Monday afternoons and evenings until 9pm.Occasional odd hours during the week for dog walking or meal preparation.The Long-Term Vision (If the Trial is Successful)Our hope is to find a wonderful individual who can become a trusted, long-term member of our family's support system. If the initial six months are a good fit for both you and our grandmother, the role would evolve into a full-time, live-in position with seasonal travel.Long-Term Responsibilities & Lifestyle:Full-Time Live-In Care: Providing comprehensive, round-the-clock support.Seasonal Travel: Accompanying our grandmother to her summer home in the beautiful Mountains of North Carolina for the summer months (approximately June-October).Accommodations:In Florida, you will have separate, private accommodations.In North Carolina, you will have a very nice in-law suite with a separate entrance and kitchenette.Who You AreYou are energetic, positive, and genuinely passionate about working with the elderly.You are an excellent cook and take pride in a clean and orderly home.You are a dog lover.You are incredibly tactful, patient, and emotionally intelligent, with a deep understanding of how to support someone who is resistant to receiving care.
