Title: Speech Therapist
Department: Adult Day Services
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Reports To: Director
Summary: Provides professional speech therapy services to participants in the Adult Day Services Center; assists participants in the production, reception and perception of speech and language, and resolution of swallowing problems.
Essential Functions:
⦁ Conducts initial and 6-month speech and/or swallowing assessments of the participants referred by other members of the multidisciplinary team; develops and implements plans for appropriate speech and language therapy and/or intervention(s) for swallowing problems.
⦁ Instructs program staff and caregivers in methods of assisting the participant to improve and correct speech disorders and/or addressing swallowing problems.
⦁ Enters progress notes and records treatments specifying method of treatment and reaction of the participant.
⦁ Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
⦁ Licensed by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board.
⦁ Experience in working with the elderly or the chronically ill, or experience in home health, public health, or acute care desirable.
⦁ Experience in working as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
⦁ Bilingual in English and Cantonese preferred.
⦁ Must have TB clearance within 12 months prior to employment and maintain clearance annually thereafter.
⦁ Must acquire CPR and First Aid certificates within 6 months of employment and maintain current certificates thereafter.
