POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Services Director serves as a senior clinical resource within the EAP, operating with a high degree of autonomy and professional independence. This role requires a seasoned clinician who is equally comfortable working independently in an office environment and as part of a lean, mission-driven team. The Director provides expert-level clinical services, crisis intervention, and critical incident response while contributing to program quality, compliance, and strategic initiatives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct EAP clinical services including assessment, short-term counseling, and referral to appropriate levels of care
- Serve as a primary responder for crisis intervention, conducting timely and thorough risk assessments and safety planning
- Lead and coordinate Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and workplace critical incident response services for employer clients
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client protected health information in full compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures
- Support business development efforts by presenting program capabilities and EAP value to current and prospective employer clients
- Contribute to program quality initiatives, clinical documentation standards, and continuous improvement efforts
- Support and provide guidance to other EAP Clinicians within the provider network
- Maintain and grow relationships with community referral partners and provider networks
- Demonstrate ethical behavior and cultural sensitivity in all clinical and professional interactions
- Perform other clinical and operational duties as needed to support program goals

- Travel, up to 10-15%
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related behavioral health field required
- Active, unrestricted Connecticut clinical licensure required (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years of post-licensure clinical experience; EAP experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in crisis intervention and critical incident response; CISM training or certification a plus
- Proven ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision
- Experience working with employer clients and diverse workforce populations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Deep knowledge of EAP models, short-term solution-focused clinical approaches, and referral systems
- Strong crisis assessment and intervention skills; ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
- High degree of professional autonomy and self-direction; comfortable operating without direct supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility across organizational levels
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and documentation abilities
- Culturally competent practice across diverse populations and workplace environments
- Flexibility to respond to shifting demands and after-hours clinical needs if needed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and telehealth/EAP technology platforms
WORK ARRANGEMENT
This is a hybrid position based in central Connecticut. However, travel is expected and required for client meetings, critical incident response, and team collaboration. Although rare, after-hours crisis availability is expected as part of this role.
