Paraprofessional/Teacher's Aide

About the Position:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Paraprofessional/Teacher’s Aide to support a 13-year-old male with mild Autism. The ideal candidate will assist with daily schedules, routines, and tasks while engaging in activities aligned with the child’s interests.

About the Child:

• Interests: Gaming (e.g., Five Nights at Freddy's, Roblox, Minecraft, Pokémon), YouTube (e.g., DanTDM, FGTeeV), Shows (e.g., Talking Tom and Friends, Garfield), Books (e.g., Captain Underpants), Toys (e.g., Pokemon Plush Collectibles), and favorite places (e.g., Zoos, Movie Theaters, American Museum of Natural History).
• Favorites: Animals, Color Green, Soccer, Karate, Gymnastics, Swimming, Spaghetti, Chocolate Chip Cookies and Vanilla Ice Cream.
• Comfort: Prefers male caregivers but female is ok as well.

About You:

• Shared Interests: Gaming and familiarity with child's interests.
• Skills: Animated, creative, flexible, adaptable, resourceful, patient, and skilled in multi-tasking, planning, organizing, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct supervision and care.
• Implement daily plans and routines.
• Assist with daily tasks and functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• New York City Resident (Required)
• Degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Social Science, Humanities, or a related field (Required)
• NYS Teacher’s Assistant Level I, II, III and/or Pre-Professional Certification (preferred)
• Two years of experience working as a paraprofessional (preferred)
• One year of experience working with children with Autism or developmental disabilities (Required)
• Bilingual (Preferred)
• Driver’s Permit/ License (Preferred).
