What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at Self Direction?
Individual seeking to hire someone to be her Direct Support Professional. We are seeking someone who can do specific days a week, this will include weekends. Must be able to drive long distances in all sorts of weather. We would like someone who has some experience in this field and good computer skills. You will be applying to work with one specific individual who lives in Oneida, NY, but will also have times when her family is involved. I would appreciate someone who knows the DSP Core Competencies and Code of Ethics (but not mandatory). Looking to hire 1 person to be the main DSP. You will need a car and a driver’s License, as you will be using it with the individual on a regular basis. Some of your responsibilities may include helping the individual budget/shop, taking her to things in the community, such as church, grocery shopping and different activities she may want to be part of. There will be times you may need to travel with her for her work or family goals. Also, she has a support dog you may need to allow in your car at times. The starting rate is $ 22 an hr. You will also get a monthly mileage check from Arc of Oneida/Lewis to reimburse you for the miles driven. We are looking for a responsible driver because this is her biggest need.
