Overview
We are looking for a kind, dependable, and compassionate companion to spend time with a 64-year-old man with developmental disabilities and support him in enjoying his day-to-day life. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who truly enjoys building relationships, sharing experiences, and helping another person feel comfortable, engaged, and valued.
In this role, you’ll spend meaningful one-on-one time together at home and out in the community—whether that’s running errands, attending events, or simply enjoying shared activities. The focus is on companionship, encouragement, and gently supporting independence, while always respecting personal preferences and routines.
Schedule:
Tuesdays and Thursdays
11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturdays 8:30 a.m. -2:00 p.m.
What You’ll Do
- Spend quality time together through conversation, shared interests, and activities
- Provide transportation to errands, appointments, and enjoyable outings (such as bowling, museums, library visits, music or sporting events)
- Encourage participation in social, recreational, and volunteer activities in a relaxed and supportive way
- Offer gentle assistance with mobility
- Provide friendly reminders for medications and support healthy routines
- Keep an eye on overall well-being and communicate any concerns or changes
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, incidents, medication reminders, and progress toward goals
- Communicate openly with family members and the support team
- Follow basic safety guidelines and respect privacy and confidentiality
What We’re Looking For

- A good listener who enjoys meaningful conversation and connection
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities is a plus, but not required
- High school diploma or GED
- Willingness to obtain DSP Level 1 certification within 6 months of hire
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Someone who has been vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance and registrationebd
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to assist with light physical support (up to 50 lbs)
Pay: $23.43 – $30.00 per hour
