The IT Intern will have the opportunity to learn and apply an analytical problem-solving approach to a diverse set of business questions. The IT Intern will work directly with the Managers and members of the IT team as well as other stakeholders who work with technology around Select Quote. This internship will prepare the candidate for future work in the field of IT by equipping them to leverage a variety of tools and techniques to answer business questions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing and testing new features for our web applications
• Support the team by troubleshooting and debugging issues in existing code
• Contribute to frontend components using React under the guidance of senior developers
• Learn and apply best practices in C#.NET or Node.js to help build and maintain backend services
• Gain practical experience with SQL by helping to write and test database queries
• Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and Agile ceremonies to understand the full development lifecycle
• Collaborate with developers and product managers to understand project requirements
• Help create and maintain technical documentation for new and existing features

Skills/Abilities:

• Foundational knowledge of programming concepts, data structures, and algorithms
• Familiarity with web development concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Exposure to React, C#, or Node.js through coursework, personal projects, or prior internships
• A basic understanding of SQL and relational databases
• Eager to learn, ask questions, and accept constructive feedback
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to understand the issue and provide workarounds and document issues

Education and Experience:

• Currently enrolled in Junior or Senior year of college/university
• Degree focused in Computer Science Information Systems Data Science Analytics Statistics Mathematics Engineering
• Relevant previous internship experience or the completion of a project that demonstrates aptitude for programming and data analysis

Physical Requirements:

• Work is performed indoors with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to office work. Could periodically travel to other office and operational sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
