Physical Therapist Assistant PTA

• Reports to the Rehabilitation Manager, Lead Physical Therapist as indicated and/or staff Physical Therapist.
  
  
  

Duties And Responsibilities

• Treats residents as directed by the Physical Therapist. Contributes to Physical Therapist’s
  
  
  

effectiveness by identifying patient care issues and providing information and commentary.

• Monitors patient progress throughout treatment; prepares and maintains records and reports as appropriate, ensuring adherence to procedural safeguards and confidentiality requirements.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Participates in resident care conferences and weekly rehabilitation meetings.
• Communicates with supervisor and other interdisciplinary team members regarding resident progress, problems, and plans.
• Participates in facility in-service training programs.
• Records daily treatments and labor according to corporate procedure.
• Instructs families and staff in maintenance programs as directed by the Physical Therapist.
• Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
• Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill and Evacuation
  
  
  

Procedures and know how to use information.

• Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.
• Assists with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area and department.
• May require work beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  
  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

 Associate's degree

 Current license in state of practice.

 Certification, if applicable, and demonstrated competency in identified

areas of specialization.

 Organized and detailed in work performance.

 Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.

 Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing

facility.

 Comply with the Residents’ Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.
