Select’s Poly Water Transfer Operator is responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining poly pipe water transfer systems used in oilfield operations such as hydraulic fracturing, drilling, and production support. This position requires strong field awareness, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work in high-risk environments with long hours, changing conditions, and physically demanding tasks.

Select’s Poly Water Transfer Operator is responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining poly pipe water transfer systems used in oilfield operations such as hydraulic fracturing, drilling, and production support. This position requires strong field awareness, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work in high-risk environments with long hours, changing conditions, and physically demanding tasks.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
- Lay out, drag, and position poly line across well pads, lease roads, ROWs, and rugged terrain for poly water transfer operations.
- Loads and unloads poly pipe, field materials, and equipment onto trailers and trucks for safe transport.
- Fuses various sizes of poly pipe together.
- Install check valves, elbows, T-fittings, and manifolds as per engineered water transfer plans.
- Operates poly pipe spool trailer in a safe manner.
- Remove, drain, and recover pipe safely after job completion.
- Assist in the setup of diesel pumps, electric pumps, transfer manifolds, filtration units, and frac tanks.
- Prime pumps, monitor suction/discharge pressures, and maintain stable operational flow for frac or drilling operations.
- Conduct routine pump checks (fuel, oil, filters, vibration, noise, pressure).
- Troubleshoot leaks, pressure drops, airlocks, or pump malfunctions.
- Perform continuous or scheduled patrols of poly lines during pumping operations.
- Identify leaks, ruptures, environmental hazards, wildlife interference, or potential line failures.
- Document pressure trends, pump hours, volume data, and environmental observations.
- Communicate issues immediately to the water transfer supervisor or company man.
- Load, unload, and transport pipe, pumps, fittings, generators, and tools using trucks, ATVs, or trailers.
- Conduct basic mechanical maintenance and onsite repairs.
- Maintain a clean and orderly staging area and pump trailer.
- Assists in containment and spill clean ups.
- Communicates with other workers, using signals, radios, and telephones.
- Uses common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
- Drives trucks and other vehicles to transport equipment, personnel and perform job task.
- Attends and successfully completes training as directed for DOT, OSHA and safety.

Physical Demands and Exposures
- Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
