Job Description
As a member of Select’s Supply Chain Management team, Purchasing Specialist (Buyer) will administer the procurement process for goods and services, per organizational requirements and policies.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
- Facilitate purchasing for Select’s Water Transfer business unit in the Permian Region.
- Timely and accurately issue Purchase Orders against preferred/low-cost agreements, as negotiated by senior sourcing personnel.
- Manage the day-to-day business relationship with key suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/ volume/ delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing of end-user feedback, follow up on backorders, etc.
- Develop an understanding and knowledge of suppliers and their capabilities.
- Ensure continuity of goods and services that meet the quality, service, and price performance standards of the company.
- Work with the Supply Chain group to implement and enforce polices that increase spend visibility and compliance.
- Actively participate in the procure-to-pay cycle.
- Assist the Director of Supply Chain to resolve AFE, invoicing/invoice coding, and payment issues. Adjust PO’s, when necessary, to capture the latest vendor transaction changes.
- Contribute to the cost savings through preferred/low-cost agreements utilization, competitive bidding, and process efficiency.
- Monitor and report key Procurement metrics and KPI’s (i.e. on-contract spend compliance, PO count, spend by purchasing category analytics, on time deliveries, etc.).
- Collaborate and communicate effectively across different organizational levels, functions, businesses, and geographies to represent procurement initiatives.
- Other projects as assigned by Director of Supply Chain.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of material/service purchasing experience, preferably in oil and gas environment.
- Strong understanding of the requirements for the acquisition of materials and services.
- Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of P2P process.
- Experience with ERP system(s) (D365 experience is a plus).
- Experience with Microsoft Office (strong Excel ability is a must).
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to forge internal (Business Unit personnel) and external (supply base) relationships.
