Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Boring Bar Operator to join our manufacturing team. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC boring machines, including CNC lathes and milling machines, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards
- Write, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs using CAM software and Fanuc controls to optimize machining processes
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and specifications to produce precise components
- Conduct precision measurements using bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify dimensions
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment and hand tools; troubleshoot machine issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Select appropriate tooling and tooling setups for various materials such as plastics or metals; manage tooling inventory efficiently
- Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to ensure parts meet design specifications and tolerances
- Utilize electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques when required for complex or hard-to-machine materials
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to improve workflow efficiency and reduce waste
- Maintain detailed documentation of machining processes, inspection results, and machine logs
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC boring bars, CNC lathes, or similar machining equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code; experience with CAM software is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles for interpreting technical drawings accurately
- Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of tooling, fixtures, power tools, welding, and assembly processes
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques for specialized applications
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments including bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
- Basic math skills necessary for calculations related to machining tolerances and measurements
- Experience working with Fanuc controls or similar CNC control systems
- Knowledge of plastics injection molding processes is a plus but not mandatory
- Ability to operate forklifts and use hand tools safely; adherence to safety protocols at all times
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively across departments
