Summary:

The VP of Business Development will lead our client’s efforts to identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities, expand market presence, and drive sustainable financial growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of success in business growth and partnerships.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Participating as a member of the executive leadership team
  2. Develop and oversee the sales and marketing department
  3. Establish annual and monthly sales objectives in coordination with the company’s business plan
  4. Develop an annual sales plan and provide quarterly updates to the leadership team
  5. Provide leadership on the day-to-day operations of the sales department while maintaining focus on the company’s strategic goals
  6. Analyze sales statistics to determine business growth potential
  7. Establish the market and target customer strategies for the company
  8. Coordinate sales and marketing operations across all departments of the company
  9. Identify new market opportunities and lead market analysis to assess potential for expansion and growth
  10. Collaborate with the appropriate departments to develop and maintain a sales and marketing plan that supports customer needs
  11. Attend regular leadership meetings and provide reporting on the sales and marketing department
  12. Escalate sales and marketing department issues to the CEO as required
  13. Develop in-depth knowledge of the service catalog and how it relates to customer’s needs
  14. Review publications and online materials to remain up to date with current and future trends emerging in the industry
  15. Conduct performance evaluations and mentor those with less experience
  16. Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy that aligns with the company's overall vision and goals
  17. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, industry stakeholders and strategic partners
  18. Oversee the negotiation and closure of business deals that contribute to long-term success
  19. Work closely with the marketing, sales and product development teams to ensure alignment with business development strategies
  20. Represent the company at industry events, conferences and networking meetings
  21. Prepare and present regular reports on progress and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders
  22. Manage and mentor the business development team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven success leading sales teams
  2. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, business management or related field
  3. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  4. Five (5) years of sales support experience
  5. Five (5) years of business management experience
  6. Excellent organizational skills
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  8. Experience in scoping and managing projects through completion
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  10. HubSpot or other CRM tools is a must
  11. The practical, proven ability to coach, teach and apply corrective actions to underperforming employees


Skills & Knowledge:

  1. Extensive experience in all aspects of the sales lifecycle
  2. Strong understanding of customer sales dynamics and requirements
  3. Thorough understanding of how customers in the small to medium business market operate
  4. Demonstrated level of success in the development of client relationships
  5. High energy and drive with strong negotiation skills
  6. Strong organizational and presentation skills
  7. Adept in preparing written communications and materials
  8. Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and customer care
  9. Ability to multitask and adapt to changes quickly
  10. Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate data entry
  11. Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment
  12. Perceived capacity to exude personal credibility and professional integrity
  13. Demonstrate a positive attitude towards people and problems
  14. Ability to self-start, work independently and achieve high standards to meet multiple deadlines
  15. Proficient communicator, including writing, speaking, editing and proofreading
  16. Above-par working capacity to engage in small and large projects with great attention to detail
  17. Work effectively with staff in a team-oriented environment with a positive, can-do attitude
  18. Adept in developing and maintaining strong relationships with management, staff, vendors and clients
  19. Exhibit a high degree of professionalism, balanced business judgment, tact and diplomacy
  20. Excellent problem-solving skills in both mundane and highly sensitive, albeit complex situations

Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
