Summary:
The VP of Business Development will lead our client’s efforts to identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities, expand market presence, and drive sustainable financial growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of success in business growth and partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participating as a member of the executive leadership team
- Develop and oversee the sales and marketing department
- Establish annual and monthly sales objectives in coordination with the company’s business plan
- Develop an annual sales plan and provide quarterly updates to the leadership team
- Provide leadership on the day-to-day operations of the sales department while maintaining focus on the company’s strategic goals
- Analyze sales statistics to determine business growth potential
- Establish the market and target customer strategies for the company
- Coordinate sales and marketing operations across all departments of the company
- Identify new market opportunities and lead market analysis to assess potential for expansion and growth
- Collaborate with the appropriate departments to develop and maintain a sales and marketing plan that supports customer needs
- Attend regular leadership meetings and provide reporting on the sales and marketing department
- Escalate sales and marketing department issues to the CEO as required
- Develop in-depth knowledge of the service catalog and how it relates to customer’s needs
- Review publications and online materials to remain up to date with current and future trends emerging in the industry
- Conduct performance evaluations and mentor those with less experience
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy that aligns with the company's overall vision and goals
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, industry stakeholders and strategic partners
- Oversee the negotiation and closure of business deals that contribute to long-term success
- Work closely with the marketing, sales and product development teams to ensure alignment with business development strategies
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences and networking meetings
- Prepare and present regular reports on progress and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders
- Manage and mentor the business development team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Proven success leading sales teams
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, business management or related field
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Five (5) years of sales support experience
- Five (5) years of business management experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in scoping and managing projects through completion
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- HubSpot or other CRM tools is a must
- The practical, proven ability to coach, teach and apply corrective actions to underperforming employees
