What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Operator position at Select Products Holdings?
Job Summary:
The Forklift Operator will operate an industrial forklift truck to accomplish various Shipping & Receiving assignments while complying with all company safety rules and paperwork required for accounting, chain of custody, and quality systems.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· When a load is ready for action, requests where the load should be transported.
· For incoming receipts, compare purchase order documents to paperwork to confirm correct receipt of goods, alerting quality for confirmation of any required testing or labelling.
· For outgoing shipments, confirm where product should be shipped from and all required loading and paperwork requirements including vehicle inspection reports, tallies, BOLs and any required chain of custody reports.
· Properly fill the void in the rear of the truck with load bars or straps to secure the load. Take pictures of the load to assure correctness of loading.
· Applies understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
· Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
· Reports any problems with materials or transportation to supervisor.
· Manages and piles drums, skids, pallets, and other supplies in specified areas.
· Completes daily lift truck report at the beginning of each shift, services equipment (propane tanks) as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical difficulties to truck mechanic.
· Always wear seatbelts when driving a forklift.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Basic math, ability to read, write and speak English.
· Able to use computer and/or scanning equipment for inventory and paperwork control.
· Ability to handle equipment and vehicles safely and sensibly.
· Must successful complete Forklift Training and maintain certification and license.
Education and Experience:
· Valid state motor vehicle driver’s license.
· Satisfactorily pass forklift driving training program or demonstrate safe handling of forklift in an on-site test.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness.
· Must be able to move and lift up to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
