What are the responsibilities and job description for the Macro Financials Equity Analyst position at Selby Jennings?
Equity Analyst - U.S. Banks (Financials):
A London‑based Portfolio Manager at a leading multi‑manager platform is looking to hire an Equity Analyst focused on U.S. Banks. This is a fundamental investing role, but differentiated from traditional single‑stock research by its strong emphasis on macro drivers, rates, and inter‑stock relationships.
The analyst will own coverage of U.S. bank equities, developing fundamental views while also analyzing how interest rates, policy shifts, balance sheet dynamics, and broader macro conditions drive relative performance across names and inform portfolio positioning. Rather than purely bottom‑up earnings work, the role emphasizes how fundamentals translate into risk, correlations, and outcomes at the book level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundamental equity coverage of U.S. banking stocks
- Analyze how rates, yield curves, liquidity, regulation, and macro themes impact bank valuations and relative performance
- Study relationships between banks (and within sub‑sectors) to identify relative‑value and thematic opportunities
- Build and interpret financial models with a strong focus on balance sheets and capital structure implications
- Contribute investment ideas through a mix of fundamental analysis and macro‑aware positioning
Profile:
- Experience from an Asset Manager or Sell‑Side platform preferred
- Strong understanding of bank business models, balance sheets, and valuation drivers
- Comfort integrating macro and rates dynamics into fundamental equity views
- Ability to think in terms of relationships, dispersion, and second‑order effects
- Python or other coding skills are a plus, but not required
Location:
- London or New York
Salary : $200,000 - $400,000
