Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) with precision, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster lifelong healthy habits.
- Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including documentation review, medical coding, and updates in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow strict infection prevention protocols, including aseptic technique and healthcare infection control standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software platforms like Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical imaging procedures.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children in a compassionate manner.
- Skilled in chairside assisting during various dental procedures with a focus on four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Ability to assess patient needs accurately through vital signs monitoring and patient assessment skills.
- Deep understanding of HIPAA compliance management, maintaining patient confidentiality, and documentation review processes.
