Position Summary
The Dietary Care Specialist performs a variety of duties in support in support of the dietary needs of the clients. Position is also responsible for greeting and serving clients, and guests in a professional and welcoming manner.
Position Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
- Manages food orders and pickups for both locations, ensuring timely and efficient supply chain operations.
- Facilitates orientation sessions for new DCS employees, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Assumes leadership duties in the absence of the chef due to PTO or illness, maintaining continuity in kitchen operations.
- Leads weekly culinary group sessions for clients, fostering engagement and culinary exploration.
Serves as a key member of the team regarding dietary needs, menus, food preferences while maintaining stock levels of foods appropriate for the day-to-day operations of the kitchens. - Ensures that any special dietary needs of the clients are met.
- Follows all health and safety guidelines for storage and preparation of food items.
- Ensures that temperature controls of food storage refrigerators/freezers are maintained at the appropriate levels and are checked daily.
- Assists with ensuring all kitchen appliances are in good working order and are cleaned and disinfected on a routine basis.
- Assists with all food preparation activities while are doing so in a safe, sanitary, and efficient manner.
- Ensures the dining and kitchen areas are clean and mentors client’s participation in any clean-up activities.
- Assists with the coordination of morning and weekend meals to ensure that food is prepared and/or on hand for the staff to set up and serve.
- Assists in promoting and ensuring that the mission, goals, and objectives are understood and actively supported by the employees.
- Prepares extra meals for visitors and/or staff, if needed.
- Determines the presence of unhealthy/unsafe conditions in the work area and reports these conditions to the proper personnel.
- Follows all food safety, health safety, food service and sanitation standards.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications related to the facility Mission and population.
Additional Responsibilities
- Functions within the guidelines of the facility’s Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance.
- Conducts chart audits following program policy timelines, as requested.
- Consistently arrives to work on time, rarely missing scheduled shifts, and promptly notifies supervisor when absent.
- Demonstrates an ability to adapt to changes in the facility function, management styles, and facility routines.
- Reads, understands, adheres to, and models all company policy statements on ethics, conduct, and conflict of interests.
- Adheres to facility policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, implementing regularly.
- Maintains positive attitude and acts as a team player with others on the treatment team.
- Attends and completes all training within assigned time frames as required by the facility.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with 1 years of experience in food service and preparation.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers, clients and/or vendors.
- Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as participate in activities outdoors and off facility grounds.
- Performs duties that require the employee to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- May sit or remain stationary for periods of time.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, or smell.
- Ability to move fifty pounds.
Additional Requirements
- Position requires incumbent to have a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and acceptable driving record.
- Clearance of criminal background, TB test, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
