Teaching Assistant

Selah Academy Teacher Assistant (2026-2027) 

Selah Academy is a Christ-centered, literature-rich, discovery-based school, inspired by both Maria Montessori and Charlotte Mason. We are looking for an assistant (or two) who appreciates our creative education model and who would be excited to assist teachers in all three multi-age classrooms, Preschool, Primary (PK4-Kindergarten), and Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3). 

Selah rhythms include spiritual formation in the form of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, walking downtown field trips, art, music, indoor and outdoor play, sports, cooking, chores, group games, reading great books aloud, and helping students form good daily habits of learning. 

A solid candidate would possess a dedication to Jesus Christ and a love for children as well as a willingness to participate in every aspect of Selah’s rhythms, including some administrative  tasks. 

Hours range from 20-25 hours weekly, Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., September-May. 

Qualifications:

Commitment to Jesus Christ and the Christian faith

Experience working with children

Aptitude for working with and nurturing children

Ability to adapt to various learning needs of children

Ability to communicate well with children and teachers

A willingness to support lead teachers

Some administrative / organizational skills

High School diploma

Preferred:

Basic knowledge or interest in discovery-based / play-based learning

Basic familiarity or interest in a Montessori educational philosophy 

Basic familiarity or interest in a Charlotte Mason philosophy of education

Knowledge of or appreciation for good children’s literature

Appreciation of sports and games as learning tools

Appreciation for the value of community engagement 

Coursework or a degree in education or related field 

Conversive knowledge of Spanish
