Job Summary:
In this role, the Maintenance Technician repairs electrical components. This person troubleshoots control problems, performs equipment preventative maintenance, updates schematics, and modifies equipment as directed. The Maintenance technician follows standard work processes and practices safe work habits to ensure efficiency and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Diagnoses electrical and simple mechanical equipment malfunctions and performs repairs and maintenance.
· Performs preventive maintenance on electrical equipment.
· Records periodic electrical testing (volts, current) and calibration. Recommends modifying or replacing defective components that fail to meet standards.
· Installs new equipment, runs conduit, pulls wire, and identifies and terminates wire to equipment.
· Recommends changes in circuitry on electrical installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
· Tests electrical circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components.
· Installs controls and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, wiring, and others.
· Identifies all new electrical installations to the source, voltage, and phase as required by the National Electrical code and the NFPA.
· Works overtime and 12 hour shifts as required.
· Participates with others in team improvement projects and activities.
Basic Qualifications:
· At least two years of experience as an electrician in an industrial environment, working in three phase and single phase (voltages 110, 220, 480).
· Must have a valid PA driver’s license.
· Computer literate.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Electrician or Electrical Technology associate’s degree from college or technical school.
· Working knowledge of both the NEC, NFPA codes.
· Able to read and interpret schematics, ladder logic, and modify existing circuits, ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
· Able to always comply with the company’s safety and quality policies.
Travel Requirements:
· Must be able to travel between North and South campuses.

· Heavy – exerting up to 100 lbs./45 kg of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lb./22 kg of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs./9 kg of force constantly to move objects.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
· Must be able to work in all weather conditions, inside and outside.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
· The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Mental Requirements:
· Ability to apply prudence and best practice to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.50 - $31.50 per hour
