Managing Director

SEI
Chicago, IL Full Time
POSTED ON 11/27/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/12/2026
Who We Look For

An SEI-er is a master communicator and active listener who understands how to navigate an audience. Self-aware, almost to a fault, SEI-ers keenly understand how to adjust their support and problem solving based on the situation. Following a logical, fact-based approach, SEI-ers possess the superior ability to see correlations others may not, ask the right questions and drive solutions.

As super-connectors, they connect not only people, but data, trends and experiences. Mature, humble, and genuine, SEI-ers frequently go above and beyond for both their clients and their colleagues. SEI-ers are ethical and trustworthy individuals who consistently and repeatedly follow through, and hold true to their values in difficult situations. SEI-ers have an insatiable curiosity and love to learn. These individuals are commonly tech savvy and early adopters. Their passion for learning is infectious and excites others. As every project is different, an SEI-er must be adaptable and comfortable with unexpected situations. SEI-ers define ambition differently. They are authentic, low-maintenance individuals who truly enjoy one another- they like to hang out with colleagues outside of work, collaborate and hold one another accountable. SEI-ers enjoy working with genuine, thoughtful folks who want to steer clear of the traditional grind and share the joy of day-to-day life and activities with colleagues, friends, and family.

What We Do

Systems Evolution, Inc. (SEI) is seeking a Managing Director to lead our Chicago office. This individual will be responsible for driving the overall cultural, strategic, and financial health of the office by building long-term client and employee relationships within the Chicago market.

The Managing Director will guide a high-performing team of consultants and leaders, ensuring SEI’s continued growth and success while upholding our people-first culture. The ideal candidate will bring deep consulting leadership experience and a proven record of business development and delivery excellence within the management or technology consulting industry.

This is a unique opportunity for a collaborative leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment free from traditional consulting bureaucracy. The Managing Director will serve as both a strategic business leader and servant leader, fostering a culture of inclusion, ownership, and high performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow SEI’s Chicago consulting branch, driving both business and cultural success.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term client relationships with senior executives and decision-makers across local Fortune 1000 and mid-market companies.
  • Build and execute strategic plans for business development, talent growth, and operational excellence.
  • Champion SEI’s servant leadership model—mentoring, developing, and empowering team members.
  • Collaborate with fellow Managing Directors and the national leadership team to advance SEI’s collective goals and shared success.
  • Ensure delivery excellence and alignment with SEI’s core values and strategic vision.
  • Manage P&L performance, office growth metrics, and equity value creation.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in consulting leadership, with a focus on business development, client relationship management, and delivery oversight.
  • Strong network and recent experience developing business, preferrably within the Chicago market, particularly with Fortune 1000 and upper mid-market companies.
  • Proven ability to communicate strategic vision, services, and value propositions to all levels of stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and trust.
  • Collaborative and proactive leadership approach, with a commitment to SEI’s people-first culture.
  • Ability to make decisive, values-driven decisions and protect the integrity of the organization.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation and equity participation
  • Comprehensive benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, 401(k), Profit Sharing, and Bonus Program
  • Collaborative, non-hierarchical work environment focused on autonomy and impact
  • Opportunity to shape and grow SEI’s presence in a thriving market with the backing of a national consulting organization
