JOB SUMMARY

Security Shift Supervisors are focused on the safety of our patrons, performers, guests, and staff. Security Shift Supervisors observe, react, and respond to occurrences throughout the Center’s property, including visual inspections of buildings, bags, or packages. The Security Shift Supervisor uses operational awareness and sound judgment throughout the course of the shift. Security Shift Supervisors respond to various incidents and emergencies and are the Center’s representatives during these events. All security team members are critical of exceptional guest service delivery to our patrons, guests, donors and co-workers. This role involves managing personnel, developing, and enforcing security protocols, liaising with external stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Oversight of campus security operations and manages a staff of 4 security staff.

Job Duties

  • Supervise, counsel, motivate, and develop Security Officers. This includes verbal and written documentation for violations of company related policies.
  • Oversee load in/load out of events. Coordinate with Production Management with regards to truck placement and local crew.
  • Must be able to operate and retrieve CCTV footage as requested by management or local law enforcement.
  • Assist and coordinate with correct departments with regards to bollard removal as needed or requested.
  • Must be able knowledgeable and familiar with all Stage Door operating standards and procedures.
  • Lead by example and communicate effectively with employees.
  • Develop and maintain teamwork in the work environment.
  • Provide constructive performance feedback to team members.
  • Prepare and manage staff deployments and event recharges for specific shift or event as needed.
  • Understand, operate, and monitor security control panels, alarms, and related security equipment to safeguard Center property, staff, and guests.
  • Follow and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Transfers custody of high valued lost & found items to the safe located in the Director’s Office.
  • Conduct safety checks and audits of equipment as directed.
  • Provide information and directions to patrons and employees.
  • Patrol and inspect the facility and report security and general maintenance problems to the proper authorities/departments.
  • Provide guidance and on-the-job training for new and existing staff once new staff have completed basic training.
  • Review and maintain logs and records, complete paperwork, and use a computer terminal to input and retrieve data.
  • Respond to and investigate situations reported to the Security Department.
  • Coordinate the arrival of emergency personnel and direct them to the incident scene.
  • Render aid when appropriate.
  • Write and submit incident reports.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor in support of departmental goals
  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required.
  • College or University education experience preferred but not required.
  • Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Candidate subject to clearance of a background check consistent with security industry standards.

Competencies

  • Ability to evaluate situations, follow guidance and training to exhibit good judgment in resolving issues.
  • Previous event security or physical security experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Exercise alertness and be able to act quickly, calmly, as trained, and with good judgment in an emergency.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Computer proficiency within a Windows environment.

Physical Demands

  • Required to walk and stand throughout a standard and sometimes prolonged shift, including walking across the campus and accessing the buildings which will also include going up and down several flights of stairs.
  • Required to sit at a posted position periodically.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in both verbal communications orally, by use of 2-way radios and telephones, as well as in written communications and reports.
  • Must also be able to reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch.
  • May be required to periodically lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Must have good vision to include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus while maneuvering through both light and dark spaces and in stairways.

Work Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, the desk area well-lit and room temperature controlled while in the office.
  • When in event spaces, the noise levels can be very loud, work areas subject to low and high intensity lighting levels, and varying degrees of temperature.


Compensation

  • Salary Range: $22.00-$23.00/hour; Full-Time, Non-Exempt
  • 403B with match after probationary period.
