Position Summary
SEEK Careers. is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our growing precision manufacturing team in Somerset, Wisconsin. This position is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC equipment to produce high-quality, tight-tolerance components. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in machining processes, and committed to delivering precision work in a fast-paced shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and/or grinding machines
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job specifications
- Program, edit, and optimize CNC code (G-code) as needed
- Select and install tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
- Maintain tight tolerances and ensure all parts meet quality standards
- Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements
- Perform routine maintenance and keep machines and work area clean
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2 years of CNC machining experience preferred (or equivalent technical training)
- Strong ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficiency with measuring tools and inspection techniques
- Solid understanding of machining principles, feeds, speeds, and materials
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CNC programming software (e.g., Mastercam or similar)
- Familiarity with multi-axis machining
- Knowledge of tooling selection and optimization
- Experience in precision or custom job shop environments
Work Environment
- Industrial machine shop setting
- Exposure to moving machinery, metal materials, and moderate noise levels
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
