Role Overview

The RFP/Proposal Writer plays a key role in securing high-value K-12 school district or Board of Education contracts. You will be responsible for preparing and submitting successful technical bids that satisfy district purchasing requirements, adhere to procurement regulations, and align with budget availability timelines.

A meaningful portion of this work involves responding to technically rigorous RFP sections authored by district IT departments and state-level technology leaders — covering areas such as cloud infrastructure, AI/ML systems, data security architecture, and third-party integrations. You will partner cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Implementation, and Solutions Engineering teams to craft deeply technical, credible responses. Prior experience in technical writing or proposal development involving cloud infrastructure, AI systems, or SaaS integrations is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will not only manage proposal writing but also build a scalable system to identify, track, and optimize bid opportunities. This is a high-impact, remote-first role requiring a mission-driven mindset to support student well-being through strategic growth.

Key Expectations in First 12 Months
  • High-Impact Proposal Development: Lead the end-to-end development process, ensuring 100% compliance with K-12/SLED procurement regulations — including technically complex sections submitted by district IT and state technology evaluators.
  • Scalable Content Strategy: Own and evolve a scalable content library for the education sector across technical domains (e.g., networking, systems, cloud infrastructure, AI integrations), driving accuracy, consistency, and efficiency at scale.
  • Process Optimization: Assess and improve existing proposal workflows to handle increased volume while maintaining industry-leading quality standards.
  • Strategic Positioning: Position Securly’s AI-driven safety solutions as essential investments through persuasive, high-impact narratives.

 

Key Development Milestones
  • 30 Days: Complete training on Securly’s EdTech solutions; assess current proposal workflows and begin managing end-to-end development for initial K-12 proposals.
  • 60 Days: Establish a tracking system for monitoring success rates; begin proactively searching for new solicitations via platforms like RFP SchoolWatch and GovSpend.
  • 90 Days: Deliver a foundational content library of high-impact RFP responses; demonstrate mastery of K-12 procurement regulations.
  • 6 Months: Implement an automated proposal system; establish collaborative workflows with Sales, Product, and Implementation teams to ensure alignment.
  • 12 Months: Own the proposal process; serve as the internal subject matter expert on K-12 procurement and scale the system to support significant market expansion.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Bid Management: Lead the end-to-end proposal development process, including project management, writing, and compliance for RFI, RFQ, and RFP solicitations. This includes owning technically demanding sections — such as infrastructure compatibility, cloud hosting and security architecture, AI/ML system descriptions, API integrations, and SSO/identity management — translating Securly’s technical capabilities into precise, credible responses that satisfy IT evaluators without losing the broader value narrative. Successfully lead multiple time-critical proposal teams through complex academic-year deadlines.
  • Strategic Opportunity Identification: Proactively search platforms for new solicitations and provide strategic input on bid/no-bid decisions based on competitive intelligence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner cross-functionally with Solutions Engineering, Sales, Product, and Implementation specialists to translate complex technical and product concepts into value-focused narratives.
  • System Ownership: Maintain accurate records of all proposal activities, analyze win/loss data, and manage RFP platforms. Develop and maintain a repeatable proposal management system that effectively handles increased volume.
  • Internal Training: Educate internal teams on K-12 purchasing cycles and how districts evaluate technology solutions.

  • Navigating K-12 Procurement: Leverage knowledge of school district purchasing cycles and SLED regulations to ensure every proposal is compliant and strategically aligned.
  • Orchestrating Complex Bids: Draw upon well-developed project management skills to manage multiple, high-pressure proposals under tight academic deadlines.
  • Content Excellence: Position Securly’s AI-driven safety solutions as essential investments through persuasive, high-impact narratives, transforming complex technical EdTech concepts into clear, value-based narratives that resonate with educational decision-makers.
  • Strategic Opportunity Assessment: Critically analyze market trends and solicitation requirements to provide input on decisions and optimize competitive positioning.
  • Leveraging Proposal Technology: Master and optimize RFP management tools to build a scalable, automated system for high-volume excellence.
  • Unlocking Funding Potential: Identify and map K-12 technology funding to Securly’s solutions, making our safety tools an essential investment for districts.
  • Technical Fluency in EdTech Infrastructure: Demonstrate comfort navigating technically complex RFP sections involving cloud infrastructure, AI/ML platforms, SaaS architecture, cybersecurity frameworks, and system integration requirements. Prior experience writing proposals or technical content in these areas — or a demonstrated ability to engage credibly with district CTOs and state IT evaluators — is strongly preferred.
