As a Reinsurance Consultant, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to the Reinsurance Department in preparation for and implementing a new reinsurance system. This position is primarily responsible for advising, validating, and training staff for a successful transition. Responsibilities may include providing technical assistance for resource management, based on department needs.

Description of Duties & Responsibilities of a Reinsurance Consultant:
- Experience in an insurance industry preferred.
- Provide expert guidance through the transition to a new reinsurance system, ensuring a seamless migration and minimal disruption to business operations.
- Evaluate any gaps in resources required for transitioning to the new platform and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training for staff, equipping team members with the knowledge and skills needed to use the new platform effectively.
- Provide ongoing technical assistance and support, addressing system-related challenges and helping resolve issues as they arise.
- Advise management on improving transition process and support a timely, successful transition to the new platform.
- Provide ongoing advisory support on regulatory compliance, market developments, and risk management best practices.
- Provide support for the processing of reinsurance deliverables as needed.
- Other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned by management.
Required skills & experience of a Reinsurance Consultant:
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience.
- A high level of understanding of Reinsurance Agreements is required.
- Understanding of life insurance, contract terms, and products are required.
- Familiarity with net amount, at risk formulas, and retrocession practices are required.
- Knowledge of tax implications of reinsurance transactions is required.
- Experience with Quasar/R2 or TIE is required.
- Advanced proficiency in Java or coding is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of SQL, VBA, Access and Power BI is preferred.
- A Fellow, Life Management Institute or an Associate, Reinsurance Administration designations are preferred.
- A CPA, FSA, CLU or other related professional designations may be helpful.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload.
- Must be dependable.
Education Required: Bachelors degree in business, accounting or a related field required.
