Houma, LA- Armed Security Officers

Role: Armed Security Officers protect people, property, and assets at assigned client locations. Officers control access to facilities, assist employees and visitors, conduct patrols, monitor security systems, and respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies. This position requires professionalism, sound judgment, and strong customer service skills while maintaining a safe and secure environment in a corporate setting.

Minimum qualifications

• At least 21 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English
• Hold, or be able to obtain, a Louisiana LSBPSE armed security officer registration
• Complete firearms training and qualify with a company-issued 9mm handgun (80% minimum) before working armed
• Pass a psychological assessment
• Pass a background investigation, including federal and state criminal searches and federal exclusion-list checks
• Pass a 10-panel drug screen
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (E-Verify)

Preferred:

• Prior armed security, law enforcement or military experience.

Duties

• Verify identity of employees and visitors, print the correct badge, and check visitors in through the Visitor Management system
• Monitor and respond to alarms within BCBSLA response times
• Patrol buildings, parking areas and garages; secure doors, gates and windows
• Act as first responder in emergencies and coordinate with police, fire and EMS
• Enforce post orders and BCBSLA policies
• Operate cameras, access control systems, radios and phones
• Investigate and report unusual conditions; write accurate daily activity and incident reports
• Escort associates to vehicles in low-light conditions; perform traffic control as needed
• Keep a professional, courteous presence in lobbies and reception areas

• Naloxone (opioid overdose)
• Bleed control
• HIPAA and privacy
• Active shooter
• De-escalation
• Scenario-based firearms training
• Site-specific training.

Physical requirements

• Stand or sit at least 1 hour without a break
• Walk half a mile without stopping
• Climb at least 20 stairs without stopping
• Perform CPR/AED

Preferred Skills:

• Basic computer and email skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Strong customer service
