Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Fire Alarm Technician to join our team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial settings. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of fire alarm systems, codes, and standards, and will lead a team of technicians to ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of fire alarm technicians on job sites.
Install, program, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm systems including panels, detectors, pull stations, and notification devices.
Ensure all work complies with applicable NFPA standards, local codes, and client specifications.
Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm systems and components as needed.
Coordinate with general contractors, electricians, and other trades on job sites.
Provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians.
Complete and maintain accurate project documentation and service records.
Perform final testing and commissioning of systems; prepare reports for AHJs and clients.
Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies at all times.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; technical school or related certifications preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in fire alarm system installation and service.
NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems strongly preferred.
In-depth knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and local fire codes.
Proficiency with fire alarm systems from manufacturers such as Notifier, Silent Knight, Simplex, Siemens, etc.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a variety of environments including construction sites, crawl spaces, and rooftops.
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Stand, bend, and climb ladders or scaffolding for extended periods.
Willingness to work overtime, on-call, or weekends as needed.
Willingness to travel as required.
