Job Brief
The Collateral Specialist is responsible for managing beginning to end lifecycle of loan collateral, property appraisal, and risk monitoring processes. This role ensures bank compliance with federal regulations, internal credit policies, and safety-and-sounded standards through meticulous auditing, report tracking, and cross-departmental coordination.

Principal Duties

  1. Valuation & Appraisal Management: Oversee the beginning to end lifecycle of appraisals, evaluations, and validations - including but not limited to ordering, logging, and distributing reports to key internal personnel.
    a.  Regulatory Knowledge & Policy Compliance: Expertise in interpreting and applying federal banking regulations and internal credit policies to       ensure full appraisal compliance.
  2. Borrowing Base Monitoring: Request, review, and track Borrowing Baser Certificates; execute collateral confirmation via mail / verification and perform routine lockbox maintenance.
  3. Floorplan Inventory Auditing: Compile, reconcile, and transmit inventory floorplan reports to third-party vendors, distributing audit result to key internal personnel.
  4. LTV Exception Tracking: Assist in daily audits of new loan originations to identify and log Supervisory and Policy Loan-to-Value (LTV) exceptions.
  5. Property Tax Oversight: Assist in conducting annual property tax audits and verifications across the loan portfolio.
  6. Escrow Account Auditing: Perform annual reviews of borrower escrow accounts to ensure regulatory and adequate funding; calculate and execute necessary adjustments, coordinate updates to internal key personnel, and issue formal disclosure letters to borrowers.
  7. Real Estate Property Inspections: Oversee the beginning to end lifecycle of Real Estate Property Inspections - ordering reports, maintaining accurate records, and routing final documents to key internal personnel.
  8. Become knowledgeable and stay current with relevant government regulations and industry best practices. These include but are not limited to:
    a.Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Reg B)
    b.HMDA (Reg C)
    c.Flood Disaster Protection Act
    d.Truth in Lending (Reg Z)
    e.Unfair, Deceptive and Abusive Acts and Practices (Reg AA)
    f.Fair Credit Reporting Act (Reg V)
    g.RESPA (Reg X)
    h.Bank Secrecy Act
    i.Anti-Money Laundering Act
    j.Privacy Act
  9. Participate in ongoing education opportunities to maintain competencies and learn about industry trends and developments.
  10. Follow all Bank policies and procedures.
  11. Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Other Duties
Assist Credit Analysts with other duties as assigned such as but not limited to: Analyze
financial data and support key credit operations and manage specialized tracking tasks such as
Coming Due Reports.

Essential Functions
1.  As this is a position that requires duties be performed on a daily basis, attendance within

2.  A primary function is to communicate with bank employees, participating banks, customers,
     and others. Employee must be able to express oneself and exchange accurate information in
     person, by phone and/or email.
3.  Employee must be able to input, retrieve and assess information from computer and other
     office machinery.
4.  Employee will operate a computer and other standard office communication devices
     and productivity machinery.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Level III should demonstrate leadership and be a resource for less experienced staff.

Work Environment
This job operates in a bank branch office. It is a professional environment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is typically a non-exempt full-time position. Hours may fluctuate due to workload and
customer needs, however, the normal work week is expected to be 40 hours; between 7:30 a.m.
and 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Occasional overtime may be necessary.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Knowledge of loan and collateral documentation preferred
  3. Bank experience preferred
