Responsibilities
- Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and local codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and system design documents to ensure accurate installation and configuration.
- Conduct construction inspections to verify proper installation practices and compliance with safety standards.
- Perform system upgrades, modifications, and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal operation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment for system installation and repairs.
- Coordinate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to integrate fire alarm systems seamlessly.
- Document all work performed accurately in service reports and maintain detailed records of inspections and repairs.
- Maintain knowledge of NEC regulations, sensors, low voltage wiring practices, and fire sprinkler fitting as they relate to fire alarm systems.
- Provide excellent field service support by responding promptly to service calls and customer inquiries.
- Assist in sales activities related to fire alarm systems by providing technical expertise during client consultations.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, sensors, schematics, and low voltage wiring.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and system design documents; experience with CAD software is a plus.
- Mechanical knowledge related to construction inspection and fire sprinkler fitting is advantageous.
- Electrical experience with NEC regulations applicable to fire alarm installations.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment used in system installation and troubleshooting.
- Prior field service or service technician experience preferred; construction background is beneficial.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently on-site.
- Strong communication skills for working with clients, contractors, and team members effectively.
