What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Health Response Manager position at SecureBio?
Responsibilities
We are hiring a Public Health Response Manager to own SecureBio's engagement with state and local public health. You will build and maintain the relationships that ensure a detection on our system can translate into an actual response, by the right people, in the right timeframe. You will also serve as SecureBio's internal expert on how state and local public health actually works: the workflows, the decision-making processes, the constraints, and the regional differences that make this landscape far more varied.
The value you bring is your existing credibility and relationships with public health decision-makers at the state and local level, and your understanding of how those systems actually function across different jurisdictions. If you have spent your career at the federal level and have not worked directly within or alongside state and local health departments, this is probably not the right fit. If you have, and you care about making sure biosurveillance actually leads to action at all levels of government, this could be exactly the role you have been looking for.
Qualifications
Required
- 7 years of experience in public health, with the bulk of that time spent working within or closely alongside state and local health departments. Federal-only experience is not sufficient for this role.
- Existing peer relationships with public health officials and practitioners at the state and local level, and demonstrated credibility with decision-makers in that community.
- Demonstrated experience with biological incident response or infectious disease outbreak investigation, and developing and implementing response protocols.
- Strong understanding of the US public health infrastructure, particularly the regional differences in how state and local jurisdictions operate, communicate, and make decisions.
- Advanced degree in public health (MPH or equivalent).
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to earn trust and convey complex, sometimes uncertain information clearly and appropriately.
- Track record of handling high-pressure situations with incomplete information, staying calm, and communicating clearly.
