Position Title:Custodian
Reports To: Lead Pastor / Operations Coordinator
Terms: 16-20 hours/week
Qualifications:
- Prior custodial or light maintenance experience preferably in a church or commercial setting.
- Communication skills: a) have the ability to lead, direct, and participate with church volunteers; b) participate with other staff members in maintaining excellent communication with all building users; and c) when necessary coordinate with external contractors.
- Ability to use cleaning equipment and supplies safely and effectively.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance tools and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and respectful of the church’s mission and spaces.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
- Availability Monday through Friday standard business hours. Flexibility is a plus. Sunday PM availability is preferred. Occasional evenings/weekends for special events
Position Summary:
The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the church property. This is to be done on a consistent schedule for daily, monthly, and annual tasks. The Custodian is responsible for setting up and taking down furniture according to building use throughout the week.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure the cleanliness of the entire church building: sanctuary, common areas, classrooms, bathrooms, stairwells, offices, and kitchen.
- Empty trash and recycle containers.
- Maintain paper, soap, and cleaning supplies
- Set up and clean up rooms for events.
- Perform building maintenance (changing light bulbs, replacing filters, painting, etc.)
- Work with church volunteers who provide assistance as needed.
- Actively participate in periodic reviews of position expectations and suggest changes that result in making assignments more efficient and feasible.
- Perform other tasks as required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
