What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian II position at Second Presbyterian Church?
The custodian works with the team to preform basic housekeeping tasks, keep the building and grounds clean. The custodian will also provide assistance in the Food Services area, including set up and clean up for special events.
Typical Hours: Monday – Friday 11am – 7pm (occasional special events on weekends)
Housekeeping
1. Preform general, routine custodial duties, including, but not limited to dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
2. Preform or ensure routine maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies.
3. Work with the other custodian to ensure that supplies are ordered and stocked in a timely and efficient manner.
4. Empty trash receptacles, bag trash for proper disposal, and dispose of trash into dumpsters.
5. Lock and unlock doors as needed for routine cleaning and special events.
6. Report needs and concerns to the Church Business Administrator.
7. Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
8. Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
9. Work with the Church Business Administrator and outside vendors on large cleaning projects.
10. May assist in or preform outside cleaning or minor grounds maintenance tasks (i.e., snow removal, replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or similar activities).
Event Logistics and Facilitation
1. Prepare coffee and other drinks for small groups and other meetings.
2. Work closely with the Church Secretary regarding event setup needs (i.e., set up table and chairs based on diagrams for events).
3. Break down, stow, and clean up after certain meetings.
4. Report any damaged items to the Church Business Administrator.
5. Help with light kitchen/food prep before special events.
6. Assists with clean up after special events.
Preschool
1. Mop floors, including bathrooms and hallways.
2. Vacuum rugs.
3. Clean bathrooms, including, but not limited to the cleaning of sinks, toilets, mirrors, and disinfecting stall handles.
4. Re-stock paper products and hand soap, as needed.
5. Disinfect classroom counters, tables, chairs, and door handles.
6. Remove trash in all PS rooms, collect and dispose of recycling.
