This is currently a one-person accounting department, with the opportunity to help shape and grow the function as the organization expands.Position OverviewThe Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting of the organization. This role ensures accurate financial records, strong internal controls, and timely reporting to leadership and the Board. The position works closely with the CEO, Executive Team, Board Treasurer, and department leaders to support sound financial decision-making.Compensation:$75,000 to startResponsibilities:Accounting Daily OperationsManage full-cycle accounting including A/P, A/R, deposits, and cash managementPerform bank and credit card reconciliationsMaintain the general ledger and reconcile all balance sheet accountsPrepare adjusting, reclassification, and allocation journal entriesTrack fixed assets and depreciationReconcile payroll to the general ledgerLead monthly and year-end close processesFinancial ReportingPrepare monthly financial statements:Income Statement (PL)Balance SheetStatement of Cash FlowsPrepare department-level PL reportsAnalyze budget-to-actual variancesProvide financial reports and summaries for leadership and Board reviewBudgeting PlanningAssist with the annual budgeting processSupport department budget developmentProvide basic financial forecasting and projections as neededCompliance ControlsMaintain and improve internal controlsCoordinate annual audit preparationSupport preparation of Form 990 and required filingsMonitor compliance with grant and funding requirementsMaintain a compliance calendarSystems & Process ImprovementImprove accounting workflows and documentationHelp strengthen financial policies and proceduresSupport system improvements and future scalabilityParticipate in planning for future accounting staff growthCollaborationPartner with HR on payroll oversightWork with Development and Operations on grant reportingSupport department leaders with financial information and reportingQualifications:5 years of accounting experienceStrong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statementsExperience preparing financials from a trial balanceExperience with account reconciliations and month-end closeProficiency in Excel and accounting softwareAbility to explain financial information clearly to non-financial staffNonprofit experience is helpful but not requiredAbout CompanySecond Harvest of the Greater Valley is a growing nonprofit dedicated to fighting hunger and strengthening our community.
