About the position:
Second Chance Shelter, a no-kill nonprofit dog shelter, is looking for a reliable and creative individual to join our team. The Pricing and Sorting Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the sorting, evaluation, and pricing of all donated items received at the Second Chance Shelter Warehouse. This position ensures that donated merchandise is processed efficiently, accurately priced, and displayed or distributed in a way that maximizes value while supporting the shelter's mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily sorting of donated items, including clothing, household goods, furniture, electronics, books, and miscellaneous merchandise.
- Inspect donated items to determine quality, condition, and suitability for resale or distribution.
- Research and assign fair, consistent pricing based on item condition, market value, and organizational pricing guidelines.
- Identify, separate, and set aside high value or specialty items for online sales. Research current market values and coordinate with the online sales team to maximize revenue from these items.
- Train and supervise volunteers and staff assigned to sorting and pricing duties.
- Ensure donated items are organized by category and prepared for display or storage.
- Remove damaged, unsafe, or unsellable items according to shelter policies.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse and sorting area.
- Monitor inventory flow and communicate with warehouse leadership regarding high-demand items, valuable donations, and donation trends.
- Assist with receiving donations and providing excellent customer service to donors when needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and organizational policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in retail, thrift stores, warehouse operations, inventory management, online resale, or pricing is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to accurately assess the condition and value of donated merchandise.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, and move throughout the workday.
- Basic computer skills are a plus.

Working Conditions

Pay: $12.00 per hour
