Position: Sexton #1 / Church Custodian
Reports To: Facility Manager
Work Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 4:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m., and every other weekend
Second Calvary Baptist Church is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Sexton (Church Custodian) to assist in maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming, and well-organized environment for worship services, ministry activities, and special events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general cleaning and sanitizing of church facilities, including restrooms, offices, classrooms, and common areas.
- Maintain floors, furniture, windows, entrances, sidewalks, and parking areas.
- Set up and break down rooms for worship services, meetings, banquets, weddings, funerals, and other church events.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks and assist with building operations.
- Prepare and clean the baptistery as needed.
- Maintain daily cleaning logs and report maintenance or supply needs to the Facility Manager.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates should demonstrate reliability, punctuality, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to perform physical tasks. Candidates must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a faith-based environment. Flexibility to accommodate scheduled church activities and special events is essential.
