What you'll do
Develop, enhance, test, and maintain software supporting defense and national security programs. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone with strong foundational development skills who is comfortable learning within an existing codebase, following established engineering practices, and solving clearly defined technical problems with support from more experienced team members.
You'll work across:
- Implementation and debugging of software features, components, services, and user-facing functionality based on defined requirements and technical direction.
- Development using modern programming languages, frameworks, databases, and application interfaces, including technologies such as React, Django, RESTful APIs, and PostgreSQL where applicable.
- Review, troubleshooting, and maintenance of existing software to identify defects, improve reliability, and support evolving program needs.
- Unit, integration, and system-level testing to verify software functionality and resolve issues before release or deployment.
- Source control, code reviews, issue tracking, documentation, and other established team development practices.
- Collaboration with software engineers and cross-functional technical teams to understand requirements, interfaces, constraints, and implementation approaches.
- Secure software development practices appropriate for defense and national security environments.
What we're looking for
- U.S. citizenship and a current, active DoD Top Secret security clearance are required. Ability to obtain and maintain SCI eligibility may be required based on program needs.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent relevant technical experience may be considered.
- Foundational software development experience gained through professional work, internships, academic projects, research, or other hands-on technical experience.
- Working knowledge of one or more modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C , C#, or similar languages.
Work Environment
- Hybrid role with on-site work required in Huntsville, Alabama.
- Flexible 9/80 work schedule supporting every other Friday off.
- Work may include collaboration in secure or controlled environments based on program and customer requirements.
