We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented experinced Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. We are a physician owned primary care practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing exceptional patient service, and supporting our clinical staff. This position requires proficiency in various medical administrative tasks, including managing patient records, scheduling patient appointments, scheduling labs appointments, sending referrals to specialists, answering phones, reviewing and sorting labs, and collecting payments.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional manner, ensuring a welcoming environment.
- Manage front desk operations, including answering multi-line phone systems and responding to inquiries with excellent phone etiquette.
- Schedule patient appointments and maintain an organized calendar to optimize clinic flow.
- Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and medical history, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Referrals to specialists and prior authorizations
- Support the preparation of care plans and assist healthcare providers with administrative tasks as needed.
- Maintain filing systems for medical records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Provide clerical support including typing reports, managing correspondence, and utilizing Microsoft Office applications effectively.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting a must
- Previous experience with referrals and prior authorizations
- Familiarity with medical terminology and coding practices (ICD coding, CPT coding) is essential.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems especially experience and proficiencies with eClinicalWorks.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate various software applications efficiently.
