What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident Camp Counselor position at SeaWorld and Careers?
What you get to do:
- Conduct park program tours for various aged campers at animal habitats.
- Provide instruction and lead campers in camp activities.
- Supervise camper’s health and safety
- Implement theme appropriate curriculum to both large and small audiences
- Continuously develop skills and knowledge base in order to accurately provide up to date information on educational topics.
- Work cooperatively with other counselors to prepare daily/nightly activities and materials for campers.
- Assist in maintenance, inventory and organization of all supplies, equipment and artifacts used in presentations and activities
- Greet and assist campers and their parents on checking in and out days.
- Plan, implement, teach, and supervise curriculum and extra-curricular activities for camp participants.
- Consistently practice safe work habits
What it takes to succeed:
- At least 18 years of age
- At least 6 months of prior experience working with children in a formal or informal educational setting
- Able to stand and walk outdoors in a variety of weather conditions for prolonged periods of time
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Able to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Able to provide two positive letters of recommendation
- Able to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification
- Valid Drivers License preferred
- Consistently practices safe work habits including, but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment, lifting and reporting of unsafe situations
- Willing to comply with and ensure team members comply with all SEA grooming guidelines and employment standards.
- Must be able to successfully complete all legal, company and department training requirements to include but not limited to passing required tests and certifications within established timelines.
