Overview
We are seeking an Experienced Dental Receptionist professional and detail-oriented to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental office management systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and billing processes. Prior dental office experience and familiarity with Dentrix are highly preferred. The Dental Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations while providing exceptional patient service.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure.
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility check.
- Collect patient payments and process transactions accurately, including copays and outstanding balances.
- Manage patient check-in/check-out procedures efficiently, including updating electronic health records.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing excellent customer service and appointment coordination.
- Maintain accurate documentation review for patient records, treatment plans, and billing information.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality.
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing medical records.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations and care plans.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a dental office is required.
- Proficiency and prior experience with dental practice management software such as Dentrix.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, CPT coding, and insurance verification processes
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word)
- Excellent phone etiquette, communication skills, and customer service orientation
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Bilingual abilities are advantageous but not required
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance standards for healthcare documentation and privacy protection
